I am an Assistant Professor of OB/HRM in the School of Business & Economics at Wilfrid Laurier University. My passion is my research! I examine issues surrounding gender and cultural diversity in the workplace and how emotions influence other people’s reactions in business interactions such as negotiations. My research has been published in top-tier refereed journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, and Psychological Science.

My research has also received numerous awards such as Best Paper awards from the OB division at the Academy of Management and the Canadian Psychological Association, and has been featured in media outlets such as the Wall Street Journal, the Globe and Mail, the Huffington Post, the Record, and Men’s Health Magazine among others. My research is funded by Social Sciences and Humanities Research of Canada (SSHRC) Insight Grant. I am also a member of the Editorial Board of Emotion.

I am also an enthusiastic teacher and I like inspiring my students. I teach Human Resource Management and I had received Excellence in Teaching Award at the University of Toronto and Dean’s Commendations for Teaching Excellence at Wilfrid Laurier University. I supervise a lab consisting of highly motivated and intellectually curious undergraduate students who are interested in research. We currently have a number of projects examining the effectiveness and reactions of diversity policies in the workplace, emotions and emotion regulation in the workplace, and a number of other projects. We also welcome new collaborators and students!

Finally, I am also a very involved community member and I serve on the Board of Directors at Focus for Ethnic Women, a non-profit organization that empowers women by providing a nurturing, culturally sensitive environment that builds self-esteem, social networks, employment related skills, and connections to meaningful employment.
